Radamès, a military hero in ancient Egypt, is engaged to Amneris, the Pharaoh’s daughter, but secretly loves the slave girl Aida instead. Exposed as a traitor, Radamès is condemned to die in a “living tomb” underground, where Aida joins him at the end.
