This compact disc represents an ideal crowed achievement of decades of discographies executed by Massimo Nosetti, famous organist due to his international career, to which we want to pay a touching tribute in memory of the first anniversary of his premature death which occurred on the 12th of November, 2013. A competent and refined performer, via the 27 volumes recorded with the label Syrius, Nosetti has offered us a comprehensive view regarding the Grand Organ’s literature, with a focus on the repertoire from florid concerts between XIX and XX centuries, which he loved so much.

To honour him as a musician in this recording the organist Omar Caputi, Massimo Nosetti’s ex-student, has chosen to propose the listening of several significant organ compositions of the same master, with which he shared a long humane and artistic journey. Organist for the Santa Rita’s Sanctuary Turin, for over three decades, where he ideated and directed the prestigious international organ festival which has reached the 31st edition, Nosetti was not only active in the role of affirmed concert artist and appraised professor but also as a valid talented composer; his productions for organ solo are substantial (published from the Carrara and Animus editions), to which are associated other interesting choral pages either a cappella or choir and organ, as well as orchestral music for two recent expositions of the Shroud.

The selection made by the interpreter is specifically orientated on those scores that Nosetti conceived in close connection with liturgy and at the same time, for variety and richness of language, they are also very enjoyable for concerts. They prove to be particularly appropriate for execution on the Zanin Organ which has four keyboards situated in the Santa Rita’s Sanctuary, of which Omar Caputi is the actual organist and that was Massimo Nosetti’s “instrument”, as he wanted and projected it, with the full encouragement of Bishop Oreste Bunino who was the rector of the sanctuary at the time. The core of the CD is represented by 4 masses, all in 4 movements (introduction, offertory, communion, conclusion) and is integrally based on Gregorian themes. You will listen in this order to the Messe “della Madonna”, “per i defunti”, “di Natale” and “di Pasqua”, alternated opportunely with other brief compositions (Preludio, Postludio festivo, Processional, Ostern-fanfare, Exultemus!).
